commissioned project

THE KING IN YELLOW

Let's say that The King in Yellow appearance is different for each individual who sees it according to their cultural references, what prehistoric people would see, specifically native americans? The intent in this project was to create an unsual design for the King in Yellow but with a very primitive look, and like every character, this one needed a story.

First design proposal

Before the current idea came along, I developed a different concept for the character based on a dialogue between The King in Yellow and the character Camilla presented in Robert W. Chambers book. However, it was decided to change the approach and try something different.

final concept

What if The King in Yellow had an encounter with prehistoric people a long time ago? This would probably be a remarkable experience for those individuals, that is for sure. A legend would probably be created around the existence of this creature, 'cause it's natural and also a very primitive human behavior trying to explain things that we don't understand. But how this legend would be?

Preliminary sketches

The character silhouette was inspired by an american rock art that describes an encounter of a tribe with a very tall man
